Online Application Form
When organizations start recruiting for their graduate schemes they put an awful amount of time and effort into getting the right people for the job. They start off by asking candidates to apply on line by filling out an on line application form.
The application form basically asks you specific questions on yourself and in relation to the job or graduate scheme you are applying for. It basically asks you everything that is in your CV but in more detail. However, do not make the mistake of repeating everything that is in your CV!! This will definitely not get to you the next stage in the recruitment process!
You need to think carefully about each question that you answer. Try and relate the question to the way the company work and the beliefs that they adopt. Thus, it would be extremely beneficial to visit the company website and gather all the information that you can before you fill in the application. This way you can use the information that you have gathered.
But again do not just copy and paste everything off the website because they will know this and it will not show to them that you have the competency and potential to put things into your own words and ideas.
Remember even at this early stage companies choose not to take applications further so you must answer each question fully and brilliantly!
A good way to answer a question is to firstly repeat the question, e.g. I chose to apply for Technical Consultant Role on the (company) Graduate Scheme because....... By answering each question like this it shows your attention to detail and professionalism.
Although this seems like a tedious thing to do it is not! You would be amazed how little things like this will give you a better chance at your application being taken further.
When you have completed the application just remember to check it on word for any spelling mistakes or grammatical errors and then submit it!
Now remember large companies have literally thousands of applications to look through so do not expect an immediate reply to your application. Normally, what happens is that if you receive an email back saying that your application is being considered then you are probably through to the next stage in the recruitment process which is the Telephone Interview
